Privacy
Sunrise is built for solo professionals who care about their data. Here is exactly what happens on your machine, and what doesn't.
Sunrise works without seeing your screen
Screen awareness is an optional power-up, never a requirement. The full product, check-ins, voice, goals, streaks, and recaps, works with zero permissions granted.
Nothing sensitive lives on your device
Sunrise’s voice and reasoning are included in your subscription and run on our secure infrastructure. There is nothing to set up and nothing sensitive stored on your machine, so there is nothing to leak.
App-usage tracking stays local
If you turn on app-usage context, the breakdown of where your time went is computed and stored entirely on your Mac. It is never uploaded.
Screenshots are opt-in, used once, never stored
Screen awareness is off by default. If you turn it on, a screenshot is captured locally, sent once to inform that single check-in, and never written to disk or kept by us. You can turn it off in one click, anytime.
What leaves your device
Everything optional is off until you turn it on. When something is sent, it is sent for a single check-in and is not used to train models.
Retention
Without an account, everything stays on your Mac — delete the app and it goes with it. If you sign in with Google, your goals, history, and settings are also stored in Cloudflare KV so they sync across your devices. You can sign out at any time to remove the server-side copy. Screenshots are never retained by us. We do not sell your data, and we do not train models on it.
Last updated June 2026. This page describes how Sunrise is built. As the product evolves we will keep it current, and we will never quietly widen what leaves your device.
